I'm Joining In With The Shoebox Appeal

Today's post is not at all my usual type of post but I think it's an important one for me to share. I recently found out about Operation Christmas Child which is a project run by Samaritan's Purse. The project asks participants to put together a shoebox filled with gifts, toiletries and school supplies and these are then sent off and distributed to a number of countries all across the world. As soon as I heard about this project from I knew I wanted to get involved.

I'm very lucky to have had wonderful Christmases for the past 20 (nearly 21) years, and I realise that not every child will have the opportunity to experience those wonderful Christmases that I have and this Christmas I want to try and put a smile on the face of a child by sending them a shoebox full of goodies (via Operation Christmas Child) for them to enjoy.

When it comes to putting together your box you're asked to state whether you're box is for a boy or girl and also to choose the age range for the child; 2-4,5-9 or 10-14 . I've put my box together for a girl aged 5-9. Here's a peek at what is in my shoebox:

I've tried to include a variety of items within my box such as toiletries, colouring books, small toys, sweets and school supplies. None of the items I've purchased for the box were overly expensive, mainly coming from places such as ASDA and Poundworld. The box has probably cost me around £15 to put together, plus the £3 shipping cost. A price I'm more than willing to pay for such a worthy cause.

I'll be dropping my box off for shipping in the next few days. I can't wait to see where it ends up in the world, (I'll be using the Follow Your Box tracker). If you want to join in with this appeal and send your own shoebox of goodies you can find out more information here. I believe you have until the 18th November to drop off your box for shipping.

Please note that this is not a sponsored post, it's something I'm doing in my personal life and I wanted to share this with you. This Christmas I'm also donating food to a local foodbank, I want everyone to have a happier Christmas.

Thank you so much for reading,
