Life: 2015 In Photo's

As 2015 is coming to an end I felt it would be good for me to look back at 2015, a year which has found me coming out of my comfort zone to spend my Summer in the USA working as a Summer Camp Counselor. Something I'd have never thought I'd be doing this year and I'm so so glad that I had the opportunity to do so. If you want to know more about my Summer Camp experience you can read my full post here.

Aside from working at Summer Camp I have been able to do so many other incredible things this year including; enjoying a trip to London with my lovely Mum,celebrating my 21st Birthday (full post here), going to gigs (you can read my post about the Kaiser Chiefs gig here), attending my first ever blogger event (full post here) and spending time with my lovely friends and family.

What I Got For Christmas (2015)

Hi lovelies, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas?

I know that 'what I got for Christmas' posts are quite controversial in the blogging world, with some us loving them and others hating them. Personally I really enjoy reading these kind of posts and hearing about what lovely gifts people received for Christmas, so I thought I'd give you a peek at some of the gifts I was lucky enough to receive this Christmas.

There's nothing I like more at the end of the day than having a long soak in the bath and having a pamper with a face mask. I was lucky enough to receive two LUSH giftsets will be perfect for my pamper nights -the LUSH Merry Christmas Giftbox, the LUSH Little Snow Fairy Giftbox are filled with some of my favourite festive LUSH products and I can't wait to start using them. I also received the Soap And Glory Bright and Bubbly Giftset from one of my lovely friends which is filled with some of my favourite Soap And Glory skincare products (oh and I love the packaging so much). I also received the Montagne Jeunesse Chocaholic Delight Facemask pamper pack which is filled with 5 face masks and the Zoella Beauty Foam Sweet Foam Showergel which smells lovely.

Merry Christmas!

Hi lovelies,
Just a very quick post to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and to thank each and everyone of you who has followed, read and/or commented on my blog this year. I know I'm still a very small fish in a huge pond but knowing that at least one person reads my blog (Hi Mum haha) makes me so happy.
Things will be a little quieter on my blog for a little while as I'm taking a little bit of a break from blogging  so that I can spend time with my lovely family and make the most of the few days I have off from my full-time job.

Thank you for reading,

Beauty: A Collective Haul

Throughout the past couple of months I've treated myself to a few new beauty products, which I've realised I've never actually shown on my blog. So I decided to grab hold of them and pop them together in a collective haul post.
Beauty Haul
A couple of months ago Debenhams had their 10% off beauty event, so I felt that this was the perfect time for me to treat myself the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, which I really should've purchased before now as it has so many amazing shades in it. I also needed a new foundation so I decided to buy MAC Studio Fix Fluid in the shade 'NW20'. I've been using this product for a while now,so I'll probably put up a full review soon.

Beauty: Empties #4

It's been a while since I last shared an empties post. As I've mentioned before they're one of my favourite posts to write (and read) so I've decided to share another one.
Empties #6
Imperial Leather Marshmallow Shower Cream is a product from Imperial Leather's recently released Sweet range. If you like sweet smelling bath products then this is definitely one to try, it smells lovely, There's not much else to say really except this product does exactly what it needs to do and it's very budget friendly - I believe a bottle can be picked up for less than £2 (although it can usually be found on offer too). I'm likely to repurchase this product in the future.

Whilst I was in America I purchased an Origins sample size kit which contained Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer, a product that has become one of my skincare staples. I've recently been using this product on a daily basis to help to hydrate and revitalize my skin. This product doesn't feel heavy on my skin and soaks in fairly quickly, which is perfect for me. As my sample size version is now empty I've now purchased the full size version.

Life: The Leeds Xmas Meet

Last Saturday afternoon I attended my first ever blogging event - The Leeds Xmas Meet.
The event was organised by the lovely Rhianna from robowecop.com and took place at a lovely little pub called Black Swan, right in the heart of Leeds City Centre.
LEEDS XMAS MEET
As this was the first blogging event I'd ever attended I was pretty nervous about speaking to people, so I didn't  speak to as many people as I'd have liked to. I did pluck up the courage to speak to a couple of bloggers though (Laura,Kirsty and Serena) who were all super lovely.

During the event there was chance to sit and chat, decorate your own Christmas cupcakes (see my attempt below) in the cupcake decorating competition, take Christmassy selfies at the selfie station or mingle and grab a drink from the bar. There was also a best dressed competition running during the event, which was won by Lucy and rightly so, her Christmas tree inspired outfit was incredible!

Review: Barry M 'Sparkling Ruby' Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint

I love all things sparkly at this time of the year and I have found THE perfect nail polish for the festive season in the form of Barry M's 'Sparkling Ruby' Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint.
Barry M 'Sparkling Ruby' Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint

'Sparkling Ruby' is a stunning vibrant red shade with some added Christmas shimmer and sparkle.  Being one of Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine formulas this nail polish is a little bit thicker than regular nail polish, however I still find it to be pretty easy to work with and it provides a lovely smooth application.

Life: My 21st Birthday

This may not be the most interesting post for you to read, but it's one that I really want to share as I celebrated my 21st Birthday last weekend and I had such a wonderful day that I want to share some of that with you (and also give another massive thank you to everyone who made it so special).

To mark my milestone Birthday I'm aiming to do 21 things in my 21st year, although rather than trying to cram everything together I've given myself from June this year to June next year to try and complete my list (I know that some of that time frame is technically not my 21st year.. but we'll roll with it anyway).

Beauty: Tanya Burr Cosmetics 'Deck The Hauls' Advent Calendar

Happy December lovelies!

There seems to be more beauty advent calendars on sale this year than in previous years. Whilst this is good news for all of us beauty lovers, it also meant that it was a little bit trickier for me to decide which one to buy myself. After narrowing down my choices (based mainly on price and which I believed to be the best value for money) I decided to buy the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Deck The Hauls Advent Calendar.

Beauty: Superdrug Haul

It's been a while since I last ordered from Superdrug so I decided to treat myself to a few new things.
Superdrug Haul
The first thing I added to my basket was the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Deck The Hauls Christmas Beauty Calender (on sale for £15.00). This is my advent calender of choice for 2015, I've had a sneeky peek at the contents (they're listed on the back of the box) and it seems pretty impressive. I'll probably blog about the contents of the calender when the time comes to open the doors.

I picked up two new nail polishes - Barry M Speedy Nail Paint in 'Sprint Finish' (£3.99) which is a lovely deep burgundy shade and Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in 'Sparkling Ruby' (£3.99) which is a stunning shimmery red which I think will make the perfect Christmas nail shade.

I'm Joining In With The Shoebox Appeal

Today's post is not at all my usual type of post but I think it's an important one for me to share. I recently found out about Operation Christmas Child which is a project run by Samaritan's Purse. The project asks participants to put together a shoebox filled with gifts, toiletries and school supplies and these are then sent off and distributed to a number of countries all across the world. As soon as I heard about this project from I knew I wanted to get involved.

I'm very lucky to have had wonderful Christmases for the past 20 (nearly 21) years, and I realise that not every child will have the opportunity to experience those wonderful Christmases that I have and this Christmas I want to try and put a smile on the face of a child by sending them a shoebox full of goodies (via Operation Christmas Child) for them to enjoy.

Review: Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick

Now I don't really like to review products that aren't easy to get hold of within the UK, however I am making an exception for the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick (which can be ordered from Sephora online).
Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick Underage Red
The Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick range currently holds a wide range of shades, from nudes to reds to more daring shades. I decided to go for one of the cult favourites - 'Underage Red'. Firstly I know there has been some controversy about the name of this paticular shade in the media but I'm not going to be commenting on said issue, I just want to review the product.

Once I'd got over the excitement of seeing a blogger/Youtuber on the cover of an actual magazine I also found that this issue also comes with a Free Clinique Make-Up Miniature.

Beauty: LUSH Haul (October 2015)

It's been a while since I splurged on LUSH products and as the Halloween and Christmas products recently launched, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to treat myself to a few LUSH goodies.
LUSH Haul
The first products I popped in my basket was the Lord Of Misrule Shower Cream which is one of this years Halloween products and is possibly the product I'm most looking forward to using. I decided to treat myself to the Big Shampoo which I have wanted to try for a very long time, I'm hoping it'll give my hair some much needed volume.. I'll keep you posted on that. Another shower product I picked up was the much loved Snow Fairy Shower Gel, I first tried this product last year and I instantly loved it so this was a product I had to repurchase.

Review: Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

I usually don't like to stray away from my beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, but I've had my eye on trying a new high end foundation and this came in the shape of the Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation (which I will refer to as YSL Touche Eclat Foundation in this post).
Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

In the UK this foundation is currently available in 17 shades (you can view the full shade range here), which I think is pretty impressive. After visiting the YSL counter and testing out a number of different shades I decided to go with 'B50'.

Review: LUSH The Experimenter Bath Bomb

Earlier this year LUSH opened the doors to their Oxford Street store. With the launch of the new store came a host of exclusive products dubbed 'Oxford Street Exclusives'. Some of the Oxford Street Exclusives have now been released in other stores and online, one of which being The Experimenter bath bomb.

After seeing The Experimenter in various Instagram photos for months I was so pleased to be able to finally get hold of the product in my local LUSH store for £3.95.

LUSH The Experimenter Bath Bomb
The Experimenter has what I would describe as a sweet but slightly spicy scent which is lovely and even lingered on my skin way after I'd finished soaking in the bath.

Beauty: Empties #3

It's been a while since I last wrote an empties post so this post is a little overdue. Here's the products that I've used up recently, what I thought of them and whether I will repurchase them.

empties

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Restorer 1 Minute Treatment - This product has featured in a few posts on my blog already as I love it. This product is a deep conditioner which helps to reduce frizz and promote shine. Oh and it smells incredible too. I try to use this product one per week to tame my frizzy mane. I will definitely be repurchasing this product.

No7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes - I don't use face wipes to remove my make-up very often but I always like to keep an 'emergency' packet in my drawer for those evenings when I don't have the time (*cough* aka can't be bothered *cough*) to remove my make-up with cleanser and toner. These wipes are gentle on the skin but effective when it comes to removing my make-up. They're a great quick fix and I will repurchase them (although I'll wait for the £5 off No7 Vouchers to return first).

September Favourites

Sep Favourites
I've recently rediscovered my love for the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. The shades I've been reaching for the most are 'Trick','Burnout' and 'Liar', which I've been using alone or in combination to create a simple, pretty eye look.

I'm a big fan of red lipstick and the latest one I have purchased is the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in 'Underage Red'. I have worn this lipstick many times throughout the month, it is a really pretty red shade which applies well and is long lasting too (kaching!...10 points if you remember that TV show, haha).

Life: The Trinity Kitchen

Trinity Kitchen is one of my favourites places to visit when I go to Leeds. It's based inside the Trinity shopping centre and is the home to a number of different eateries.

Trinity Kitchen
The Trinity Kitchen has some permanent restaurants - such as Tortilla,Pho and Chicago Ribshack to name just a few - however it also plays host to a number of street food vans which change around every 6 weeks. To find out which street food vans are currently visiting click here.

Review: Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Dark

Usually I don't use fake-tan very often but when I do my tan of choice is Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan. I have tried both the original version and the dark version, as the dark version is my personal favourite it will be the one I'm focusing on in this review.

Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Dark Tan is a mousse type fake-tan. As I'm somewhat of an inexperienced fake-tanner this is my favourite type of tan as I find it the easiest to apply. However it's worth mentioning that you definitely need to give the bottle a good shake before trying to dispense any product (as with any mousse type product) otherwise things can get a little bit messy.

Beauty: All The Small Things (That Irritate Me)

Quite recently I got thinking about my beauty pet hates so I decided to do something a little bit different in today's post and share with you all those small (beauty related) things that tend to irritate me:
Beauty Pet Hates
  • People applying the 'tester' make-up directly to their face ..the amount of people I've seen do this in Boots/Superdrug is crazy.. it's gross.. please stop.
  • Chipped nail polish..oh dear one nail chipped.. now I need to repaint them all #effort.
  • Getting the perfect eyeliner flick on one eye... but not being able to get the other eye quite right.

Life: My Summer Camp Experience

If you're a regular reader then I apologise that things have been very quiet on my blog for the past couple of months (and if you're a new reader, welcome!). These past two months I've been working at a Summer camp in the USA as a Camp Counsellor.
To be honest, until earlier this year I'd never even thought about working at a Summer camp (or even working abroad for that matter) but once I had planted the idea in my head I knew it was something that I had to try to do.

USA Summer Camp Experience

To make things a little bit easier I've split the steps of the process down slightly, although if you have any questions or want to know anymore about my experience then please feel free to get in touch :)

Application Process
As international staff I needed to apply through an agency as you need a visa sponsor. After doing some research online I decided to apply and go through CCUSA (who I'd like to give a huge shout out to for all the help and support they gave me throughout).
Once I'd started filling out the online application, I then had a Skype interview with one of the CCUSA staff and a few days later I was told that I had been provisionally accepted onto the program *yay*. It was then time for me to pay my fees, send off for my police check, book my visa appointment and of course finish my application.

Life: I'm Going To The U.S.A!

Hi lovelies,
Earlier this year I applied to do a cultural exchange placement as a Summer Camp Counselor in the U.S.A, as some of you may already know.

After lots of planning and preparation (and a little bit of worrying) I have some exciting news! At the end of last week I was lucky enough to be obtain a placement at an amazing Summer camp. I fly out to the USA tomorrow and I'm returning to the UK in late August. Things will be quiet on my blog whilst I'm away, but please stick with me as I'm sure I'll have some exciting posts to share when I'm back home.

Beauty: My Perfect Pamper Night

After a long day at work there's nothing I love to take a little bit of time to treat myself to a relaxing pamper night, so when the lovely people at Victoria Plumb invited me to share my pamper night routine I jumped at the chance.

Here's a few elements that help to make my perfect pamper night:

A Hot Bath/Shower - If I fancy a mid-week pamper night I'll opt for a hot shower, however at the end of the week I tend prefer to have a long soak in a hot bath. For me, the bath is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day.To make my baths extra indulgent I like to add a LUSH bubble bar or bath bomb to my bath (I'm still using up the products I bought in the LUSH boxing day sale.)

A Face Mask -Whilst I'm relaxing in the bath I like to apply a face mask. My current favourite is Origins Out Of Trouble which is perfect for my problem skin.

Review: Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation

It's been a while since I last tried a drugstore foundation, I usually stick with my beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation. Unfortunately my last tube ran out and I wasn't able to repurchase so instead I decided to try the Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation.

Now in no way am I trying to say that the Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation is a dupe for Estee Lauder Double Wear - it's not - but I think it's a good product in its own right.
Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation
Now I don't like to start a review with a negative but the Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation is currently only available in around 5 shades. Being the honest person that I am I don't think the shade range is varied enough (Bourjois please can you add more shades to the range?)
Anyway, the shade I went for is 'Light Beige' which can be a teeny tiny little bit too dark for me when I've not faked tanned, but that's not too much of a problem as recently I have been fake tanning quite regularly.

May Favourites

Hi lovelies, I hope you're all well?
I'm never really sure how to start my monthly favourites posts so I'm just going to dive right in and share the products I've been loving throughout the month of May.
First up is Primark false nails. I've lost count of how many packs of these I've got through in the past year, they can be a little bit hit and miss (mainly due to the nail glue) but I love them. They're available in a wide range of colours and designs so if you're a fan of false nails they should be something to suit you. I have reviewed Primark's false nails in full here.

I don't usually tend to use fake-tan very often, but I recently bought a foundation that's a teeny bit too dark for my natural skin colour so I've introduced Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan in 'Dark' into my regular routine. I'm thinking of doing a full review on this product soon so I won't ramble, but I will say that it's very easy to use and it leaves my skin with a lovely natural glow. My full review can be found here.

What I'm Currently Listening To

Recently Roxie at The Beautiful Bluebird shared her May Spotify Playlist on her blog (link here) and given that I'm a little bit nosey it was a post I really enjoyed. My music taste varies widely from the likes of The Pretty Reckless to the Frozen Soundtrack (playing my music on shuffle can be very amusing sometimes!) Anyway.. I thought it might be good to share my current Spotify Playlist with you.

It's not very often that I'll find 'newer' songs that I love as much as older songs, but that said I haven't been able to stop listening to:
Hozier - Someone New
Florence + The Machine - Ship To Wreck
James Bay - Let It Go (no it's not the Frozen song, haha)
Kygo ft Conrad Sewell - Firestone
Fall Out Boy - Centuries

The next part of my playlist includes some songs/artists that I've not listened to for a very long time, but they're very welcome rediscoveries:

Review: Bourjois Volume Clubbing Ultra Black Mascara

On a recent trip to Boots I found myself at the Bourjois stand. I have to admit that I've never tried anything from Bourjois before (I know,I know.. bad blogger) but there's currently a 2 products for £14 offer on so I picked up the Bourjois Volume Clubbing Ultra Black Mascara and Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation (review coming soon).

When choosing a new mascara I like to go for one that's going to give my eyelashes some volume. The Bourjois Volume Clubbing Ultra Black Mascara provides my lashes with volume but also adds length too. The mascara itself is very dark and pigmented - perfect for a night out or those days when I want to go for a slightly more dramatic eye look.

Natashaparisblog Turns One!

I started natashaparisblog back in May 2014, and at this date last year I published my first ever blog post (titled 'My First Blog Post'... how original ;))

When I started my blog I thought it would be something that I got fed up of doing after a couple of months. However, here I am a year later. Yes blogging can be hard, I sometimes struggle to think of new content and there's always the worry of whether people are actually going to read the posts that have taken me a whole afternoon to write up. But (ooh I just started a sentence with 'but' if my English teacher could see me now ;)) when I see that people are actually reading my posts or when people leave a little comment then all the time and effort I put into my blog suddenly seems worth it.

So I just want to say a huge thank you to you, the lovely readers of natashaparisblog. Thank you for taking time out of your lives to read my rambles, thank you for following, thank you for leaving lovely comments and thank you for reading.

I'm definitely a lipstick kinda girl so I was drawn towards Rimmel Provocalips Lip Colours as they claim to deliver 16 hours of endless colour. Rimmel also claims that this product is 'kiss-proof, food-proof and transfer-proof' - with such bold claims I was intrigued to see if the product lived up to expectations.

April Favourites

Hi lovelies, it's monthly favourites time again so here are the products that I loved throughout April.

April favourites

First up is MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in 'Soft and Gentle' which actually featured in my last monthly favourites post too. I only purchased this a couple of months a go but it's become a staple in my make-up routine. It's a very pretty shade that I sweep across my cheekbones (alongside my bronzer) to give my make-up a bit of 'pizazz'.

Beauty:Empties #2

I'll openly admit that I'm quite a nosey person so I always enjoy reading 'empties' posts. I've found that I quite enjoy writing them too. Here's a peek at the products I've used up recently,my opinions and whether I'd repurchase them.

COLAB Dry Shampoo 'London' - I think this was my second or third can of COLAB Dry Shampoo so it really should have featured in an empties post by now. I love the scent of this dry shampoo and it does a good job of refreshing my hair between washes without leaving any tell-tale chalky residue. I have already done a full review of this dry shampoo which you can find here. I have already repurchased this product.

My favourite MAC shades at the moment are Vegas Volt and Costa Chic (yes I'm embracing the little bit of sunshine we have lately haha).

Review: Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Paint

A couple of weeks ago Barry M released a new line to their extensive range of nail polishes - the Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Paints. These nail paints are designed to give the effect of gel nails with much less fuss.

The Barry M Sunset Nail Paints apply just like a regular nail polish, but the clever part comes into play when you apply the Sunset Top Coat. Once the top coat has been applied the polish bonds together to create a gel like effect. Unlike most gel nail polishes, there's no need to use a UV lamp with these as they use natural daylight. I can be quite impatient when it comes to letting nail polish dry so I've been seriously impressed with the Barry M Sunset Nail Paints as they seem to dry pretty quickly.

A Little London Haul

Last Friday I travelled down to London for the day. Although shopping wasn't the main purpose of my trip I may have made a couple of purchases:
First I decided to brave Oxford Street Primark where I bought a couple of slogan tees - 'Just A Plain White Tee',£4.00 and a Mean Girls 'On Wednesdays We Wear Pink' Tee,£6.00. I didn't go too crazy in there as it is far far too busy so I just wanted to get out as soon as I could.

My favourite purchase of the day was my Happy Jackson Travel Document Wallet,£18,00. I could have spent a small fortune on the Happy Jackson items in Selfridges, there was so many lovely things. However I decided to be sensible and only but the Travel Document Wallet - which has labelled sections for essentials such as my passport, tickets and travel money. I think will come in very handy for travelling if I am lucky enough to get a placement at a US Summer Camp (fingers crossed everyone).
