Review: Maybelline Big Eyes Liner in Beige/Black

After loving the Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara so much I decided to try out the Maybelline Big Eyes Liner in Beige/Black.

The Maybelline Big Eyes Liner is a double ended eyeliner pencil. One end of the pencil is a beige/nude colour designed for use on the inner lash line, whilst the other end is a black pencil designed for use on the outer and upper lash line. When used together the two colours help to make eyes appear bigger and brighter.

Maybelline Big Eyes Liner in Beige/Black Swatches

Whilst I absolutely love the idea of this product, unfortunately when it came to using it, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

I've found that the product is fairly tricky to work with, mainly due to the chunkiness of the pencil. The eyeliner itself has a fairly waxy consistency which seems to cause the pencil to pull a little bit when it comes to lining the lash line.

Whilst the pigmentation of both colours is pretty good, unfortunately neither colour is very long lasting once applied. I've had particular problems with the black eyeliner smudging and leaving me with the dreaded panda eyes look.

I don't think I'll be repurchasing this product as it is at the moment. However if Maybelline ever decide to re-release their Big Eyes Liner with a different formula I will definitely give it another go as I do think its a handy product to have in my make-up bag.

The Maybelline Big Eyes Liner is currently available in two shade combinations - White/Black and Beige/Black - and is widely available from Boots and Superdrug for £4.99.

Have you tried the Maybelline Big Eyes Liner?

Beauty: Lush Sale Haul

Despite having quite a few lovely LUSH products stashed away I just couldn't help buying myself a few more festive bits in their highly anticipated boxing day sale. I was hoping I'd be able to get this post up while the sale was still on,but of course I didn't consider that I would have to wait for my goodies to arrive..silly me. I've decided to put this post up anyway in the hope that some of you still might enjoy having a nosy at what I bought.

The 'LUSH Luxury Pud' was my favourite bath bomb from the 2014 Christmas collection so I picked up two of them (£1.46 each). I've really liked the 'Shoot For The Stars' Bath Bombs (£1.46 each) when I've tried them before so I picked up two of those too . I also bought two bubble bars - 'Drummers Drumming' Reusable Bubble Bar (£2.18) and 'The Christmas Hedgehog' Bubble Bar (£1.35) - both of which I have never used before so I am looking forward to trying them out.

I really wanted to get myself the Merry Christmas Giftbox just so I could add another 'Lord of Misrule' Bath Bomb to my stash, however due to the technical difficulties that the LUSH website experienced during the sale that paticular giftset had sold out by the time I (eventually) got to checkout.

Instead I chose the 'Star Of Wonder' Giftbox (£11.43)  which I am very happy with. It includes; 'Shoot For The Stars' Bath Bomb,'Candy Mountain' Bubble Bar,'Sparkler' Bath Bomb,'Star Light,Star Bright' Bath Melt, (which I know is going to leave the bath in a complete glittery mess..sorry in advance Mum),'Snow Fairy Sparkle' Shimmer Bar and
'Snow Fairy' Showergel (100g).

That was all of my online LUSH sale purchases.. but I may have accidently fell into LUSH Meadowhall and bought myself the 'LUSH Magic Wand' Reusable Bubble Bar and a 500g Bottle of 'Snow Fairy' Showergel (which I have become obsessed with! And judging my the amount left in my current bottle it seems that my Mum might be too..)

Thankfully my online order didn't take as long to arrive as it has done in previous years. However, I have to comment on the packaging. The Bath Bombs were 'naked' - they didn't come in the little plastic bags like they used to do which is a little bit annoying but I can understand that it's better for the environment and all. The amount of little foam 'S' shapes in the huge cardboard box were ridiculous! *Update* - Since hitting publish on this post I've been informed by LUSH Customer Care that the foam 'S' shapes are infact compostable as they're made from potato starch, but there was still a hefty amount to put into the bin.

Did you treat yourself (or somebody else) to anything in the LUSH sale?

December Favourites

Happy January lovelies.
It's a little bit later than usual but it's monthly favourites time again. Here's a rundown of the products I was loving throughout December:

December favourites

Possibly one of my favourite product discoveries over the last few months has been Dotz Acne Patches, I first heard about them through Twitter from the lovely Lottie from lottie-xo. They are transparent dots which you apply over any pesky spots and they work to reduce their size and help them clear up much quicker. They have definitely become an essential product within my skincare routine.

The blusher that I was wearing throughout throughout the month was Makeup Revolution Baked Blush in 'All That I Think' which is perfect for providing a subtle pop of colour and highlight to the cheeks.

There's quite a few lip products in my favourites this month, the first of which is the Benefit Benebalm which I was been wearing constantly since receiving it for my Birthday back in November. It's very hydrating and provides just the right amount of colour for a 'no make-up' make-up day.

I've been using LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub throughout the Winter months to help keep dry chapped lips at bay. If you want to know more about this product I have already done a full review on it which you can find by clicking here.

I've recently discovered my new favourite lip combination - Makeup Revolution Salvation Lip Lacquer in 'Keep Trying For You' as a base colour with Tanya Burr Cosmetics Lipgloss in 'Mistletoe Kisses' over the top. The two products complement each other very well and create a stunning festive red lip.

December was the month that I rediscovered my love for the Urban Decay Naked Palette - specifically the shade 'Half Baked' which is a gorgeous shimmery gold colour, perfect for wearing throughout the festive season.

What were your December favourites?

What I got for Christmas (2014)

I'll admit that I'm a little bit of a nosy parker and I absolutely love reading/hearing about the gifts that people receive and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So naturally it makes sense for me to share with you some of the lovely gifts I received for Christmas from my friends and family (another huge thank you as I know you'll probably read this).

I know that 'what I got for Christmas' posts are controversial so this post won't be for everyone. Now I'm not going to write a big disclaimer as it goes without saying that I'm not attempting to show off, I know I am very lucky to receive these gifts and;I am very thankful for each and every one of them.

The Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot giftset was definitely at the top of my wishlist. The giftset contains samples of 5 of Benefit's best selling blushers - Dandelion, Bella Bamba, Sugarbomb,Coralista and Rockateur - as well as a sample size Hoola Bronzer (which just happens to be one of my all time favourite products). The set also contains a sample pot of 'Watts Up' and a brush.
